Ariento's Device Inventory Program
What is Ariento’s Device Inventory Program?
Ariento’s Device Inventory Program is an inventory management system for your unused IT equipment. A critical requirement for any organization is maintaining a process for tracking and managing all of an organization's IT assets, including hardware, software, and other related items. This information can be used to track the lifecycle of assets, identify potential problems, and make informed decisions about purchasing, maintenance, and disposal.
Why is an inventory management system important?
There are many benefits to implementing an inventory management system for your IT hardware. Some of the most important benefits include:
- Post-pandemic, businesses are more remote than ever. Many businesses have reduced office space or gone completely remote and no longer have the space to store and manage computer inventory.
- Improved compliance: Many organizations are required to comply with regulations that govern the management of IT assets. Storing your excess inventory in Ariento’s facility (instead of that dusty desk drawer) can help you to ensure that you comply with your industry regulations.
- Remote-work compatible: With unprecedented numbers of employees having “take-home” company assets, tracking IT inventory can be a burden. Using Ariento’s Device Inventory Program, you can ship devices pre-onboarded directly to an employee’s home. When an employee is offboarded, simply have them ship the device back to us to be stored until it is ready to be used again.
How it works: Inventory In
- Select "Delayed Shipping - Store at Ariento Warehouse" when checking out from the Ariento store
- Select "Ship to Ariento to store until repurposed" when submitting a Revoke/Disable User Request
- Ship to Ariento as needed (please ensure a ticket is opened first). Instructions here: How to ship a computer to Ariento.
How it Works - Inventory Out
- When you submit a New User Request, be sure to select "Company Owned Computer - From current inventory managed by Ariento at warehouse" as the primary workstation.
- Go to the Ariento store and add "Company Owned Computer from inventory managed by Ariento" to your cart. Select the specific computer you want to send and address for shipping.
Device Inventory Program FAQs:
Q: How does Ariento ensure data is protected during personnel leaving?
A: All Ariento managed laptops are full disk encrypted when issued and sent a wipe command when a user’s access is permanently revoked. We also recommend using USPS registered mail to ship used computers to ensure chain of custody is preserved for compliance clients or sensitive terminations.
Q: What is pre-onboarding?
A: Pre-onboarding is a service where the Ariento fulfillment team will onboard the computer prior to shipping and assign it to the appropriate user. For more information, visit https://www.ariento.com/workstations/pre-onboarding.
Q: Do I have to pay for pre-onboarding if Ariento manages my inventory?
A: No. All computers can be self-service onboarded with a good internet connection. See instructions here: How to onboard a computer to be managed by Ariento
Q: Can Ariento help me with secure computer disposal?
A: Yes. Ariento contracts Iron Mountain for secure device disposal. When a device has reached end of life, simply ship it back to Ariento for secure disposal.
