Teams vs. Communication SharePoint Site

Before We Start: When creating a SharePoint site, it is important to understand which type of SharePoint site is suitable for the intended use.  When creating a SharePoint site, a selection must be made of whether the SharePoint site is a Teams or Communication site. 

Team Site: 

Best for groups collaborating on creating content in the site. Additional tools (specified below) are included with a team site that assist in collaboration. A Team site is not best for distributing content to viewers because all members of are content authors.

Communication Site: 

Best for a small number of content creators distributing content to many viewers. Collaboration is not a key feature of a communication site. Communication sites are designed so that the distributed content cannot be edited by the viewers.
